. If you are traveling to the Philippines and your passport will expire in 6 months or less upon return to the United States, you may renew your passport IN THE PHILIPPINES. (Although there is an expedited service available in the Philippines for passport renewals, please be sure that your travel dates are flexible enough to accommodate the time it will take you to renew your passport.)

What do I do if I need certification of my special power of attorney, acknowledgment, certification or other legal documents?
If you need certification for any of these documents, please make any appointment to see the Consul General, A.H. at the Philippine Consulate of South Florida. You may schedule an appointment for your certification by calling the Philippine Consulate of South Florida's Information Hotline during normal business hours (Monday thru Friday from 10AM - 4PM excluding holidays).
What do I need to bring?
In order to have you document certified by the Consul General, A.H., you must bring the following items:
1. Bring all documents that require certification.
2. Bring valid Photo ID. (Passport or Driver’s License)
3. All signatories have to be physically present and sign IN PERSON in front of the Consul General, A.H..
DUAL CITIZENSHIP

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines wishes to inform that beginning April 1, 2004, it will resume receiving Petitions for Retention and Reacquisition of the Philippine Citizenship pursuant to Republic Act No. 9225 otherwise known as the "Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act of 2003" and Memorandum Circular No. AFF-04-01, "Rules Governing Philippine Citizenship under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9225 and Administrative Order (A.O.) No. 91, Series of 2004" issued by the Bureau of Immigration.
Who are eligible?
All natural born Filipinos who have lost their Philippine Citizenship due to naturalization as a citizen of another country may file a Petition for Retention and Reacquisition of Philippine Citizenship on their behalf and that of their unmarried minor children.
What do I need to do if I’d like to apply for Dual Citizenship?
If you would like to apply for dual citizenship, you are required to make a personal appearance at the Philippine Consulate of South Florida, and you must bring the following items:
1. Download and complete application form "Reacquisition/Retention of Philippine Citizenship"
2. For those born after 1950, obtain 3 copies of your NSO Stamped, ORIGINAL Birth Certificate (You may obtain the NSO stamp at the National Statistics Office in the PHILIPPINES. If you are unable to obtain it personally, you may authorize a family member to pick it up for you.)
3. Xerox 4 copies of U.S. Naturalization Papers.
4. Xerox 4 copies of your U.S. Passport.
5. If applicable, 4 copies of your certificate of marriage.
6. $50 money order or certified bank check payable to the PHILIPPINE EMBASSY (Please do NOT make checks payable to the Philippine Consulate)
7. Sign application form IN PERSON in front of the Consul General, A.H. at the Philippine Consulate of South Florida.
8. Petition must be made under OATH and petitioner must take Oath of Allegiance IN PERSON before the Consul General.
